WritRams 40 Moms Club Pamela June KimmellPamela Kimmell is one of those all-encompassing artists–writer, painter, photographer and more. She’s a published author whose stories and poems have appeared in many publications, and her fiction novel, “The Mystery of David’s Bridge“, was nominated for a Library of Virginia Literary Award in Fiction. She paints and draws amazing landscapes and other items that tickle her fancy. And, she’s just a really cool person–exactly how an artist should be in the “cool” department.

I first met Pam when we worked together–different lives for both us in the health care industry–and she slowly introduced me to her art and her writing. We had writing in common (I wish I had the artist part in common), so we immediately hit it off. That was around 15 years ago (who knows exactly, you tend to lose track of these things) and we still maintain a friendship today–mostly on Facebook.

Pam’s art always touches me. I have a fondness for the simple beauty of her pencil or pen-and-ink drawings (of which I have two hanging in my house). There’s something original–and sometimes quirky–about both her drawings and paintings that seem to capture a unique perspective. It may be the way a bird is caught mid-flight in the background, or the way a vine crawls up a door, or the slightly skewed face of a snowman reflecting the sun. It’s just that “something” that makes you stop to inspect further, knowing that you’ll find something else that delights you.

Much of her art is for sale, but Pam also offers her art and photographs in miniature form on note cards. This was met with a huge enthusiastic response from her fans and followers. Last year, I bought Pam’s art note cards for friends and family on my Christmas list. They were instantly favorite gifts. I know you–and those on your holiday gift list–will love them, too.
