McNeil Consumer Healthcare, a Johnson and Johnson subsidiary, is voluntarily recalling Extra Strength Tylenol due to a “musty odor.”
Over 60,000 bottles making up one lot of the drug were recalled last week after customers complained of strange smells.
According to a Reuters report, “The moldy odor has been linked to traces of a chemical called tribromoanisole (TBA). TBA has been associated with an ‘offensive odor’ and temporary gastrointestinal symptoms.”
The recalled bottles were manufactured in February 2009 with the lot number ABA619 and UPC of 300450444271. This information is found on the side of the bottle label.
Consumers using this particular lot are instructed to stop use immediately and contact McNeil Consumer Healthcare at www.tylenol.com or by calling 1-888-222-6036.
