I cannot fold a fitted sheet. When I try, it looks like a rolled up wad of fabric. So, I thought I would scour the internet and try 101 ways to fold a fitted sheet and report the easiest and best way back to you.
So this is what I found.
STEP 1: First, take a sheet and spread it out on a flat surface (a bed or the floor works well). The long sides should be parallel to your body.
STEP 2: Next you take one corner from the far side of the sheet and bring it directly across to the next corner. Tuck it inside the corner with seam sides together. Repeat with the other corner. Pick up the sheet by the two corners you “tucked.” Holding the corners, firmly shake out any wrinkles. Take the left corner and tuck it into the right. Lay the sheet back on the bed and smooth out any wrinkles.
STEP 3: Next, start to square the sheet. The make a tent and fold it over at the u-shaped corner formed by the elastic. Then, fold several times until you reach your desired size.
The key to a great folded fitted sheet is smoothing the sheet each step of the way and using tension to get sharper corners. Using a sheet fresh from the dryer also helps.
I have practiced and practiced. You can see the improvement but I still have a way to go. I am going to keep working on it. If you try, I’d love to hear how it works for you!
Here are a few of the resources I looked to (including a couple of videos):
