Homeschooling | Are you ready for a new year?

The clock is ticking and time is running out. School starts in about two weeks for us, how about you?

I’ve already made the majority of my curriculum choices and have what I need to get started. Reading a lot of homeschool reviews by other parent’s helped me make some of my choices.

I’ve been reorganizing my homeschool room and stocking up on school supplies. I’ve been thinking about how I might want to break down our days: reading, writing, math everyday, but then focus on one particular additional subject per day like Science on Tuesday, Art on Wednesday…

I’m excited for a new school year to start, but I’m definitely. not. ready.

Since I work from home and homeschool my boys, my kids are pretty much always with me. So, I especially need some organization and pre-planning (and the discipline to follow through). I don’t know about you, but I have a hard time when it comes to following a schedule and this leaves me feeling discouraged. I really need one though and this year is my year to figure out what will work for our family.

I’ve worked out a tentative meal plan for my family which I hope I will actually USE and have given some thought to how I’ll break down our homeschooling into manageable days. I hope to feel more in control and more productive this year than last. “Feel” being the key word here. There’s always hope. Right?

I plan to share my meal plan on my blog soon because I’ve had some people ask about it. I’m focusing on simple meal ideas (and hoping I remember to look at it!).  I use free printable resources to help me get organized.  I’ve also joined a “Not” Back-to-School Blog Hop where we share different aspects of our homeschooling lives in a four week series.

The series breaks down like so: Week One, last week, was sharing our curriculum choices and this week we are sharing our homeschool rooms. Over the next two weeks we’ll share pictures of our kids and then it will be about “a day in the life of” our homeschooling. If you were ever curious about homeschoolers you might enjoy checking out this blog hop.

Whether you homeschool or send your kids to school elsewhere, what else do you need to do before school starts? Or, are you ready?

Your homeschooling blog hop sounds great! I’ve got lots of friends who homeschool and I may share that with them, too! I also hope to see your post on your meal planning – which always gets me excited planning and organizing stuff!
