‘Hot Sauce Mom’ | Did she deserve a harsher sentence?

No doubt you’ve heard by now about the “Hot Sauce” mom–the mom that used items like hot sauce and cold showers to punish her 7-year-old adopted son.

Jessica Beagley, from Alaska, was charged with child abuse after she appeared on the Dr. Phil show in a video placing hot sauce drops on her son’s tongue and then making him take a cold shower while she screamed at him–all for playing “swords” with pencils and then lying about it.

Beagley was given a 3 year sentence and $2500 fine, which was  suspended  in lieu of probation and counseling with her son. The judge said, “Outside of this case, you’re a good mom.”

Beagley and her husband have six children and reportedly take the kids to 11 different therapy appointments each week.

What do you think? Is the parole/counseling punishment fitting, or should she serve jail time?
