Cargill, Inc., is recalling an additional 185,000 pounds of ground turkey due to positive Salmonella tests.
Last month, Cargill recalled 36 million pounds of turkey for the same reason. However, unlike last month, Cargill has proactively announced the voluntary recall prior to any reports of illness.
The company is now holding off on producing anymore ground turkey until the source of the problem is identified.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the ground turkey is labeled Honeysuckle White, HEB and Kroger, with the number P-963 inside the USDA inspection seal.
Cargill requests that any consumers with ground turkey fitting these descriptions return the meat to the store of purchase for a refund.
