One of the things that really stinks about being in an office or working in the corporate world is the amount of time you spend just … sitting. I swear, when I worked in a cubicle, there were days when I could just feel my butt spreading out from all of the desk time. All of us would get up at random times to get a drink or check in on a coworker, more just to get up and walk around than anything.
Today, there are awesome programs all over to get the office up and moving. Here’s a particularly cool one that I wish they had around when I was in the cube world—Cafe Well, a social networking site that will help you get well and stay well. The site not only gives you great information on health conditions and tips for living a healthy lifestyle, but they also offer a wellness program for its HealthAmerica members called “Race to the Moon” that aims to get people up and moving.
It’s a new year. You know you’ve been thinking about it. Why not get your little group together and get healthy at the office? Take a walk at lunch, set up a healthy snack pitch-in and so much more. I would definitely set up a healthy food challenge within my office, sharing healthy lunch and dinner options.
What health challenge would you set up with information from Cafe Well? (And, this time next year just think how happy you–and your entire office–will be that you did this!)
