5 Free Oscar Apps for Award Night Fun

If you’re an Oscarophile (yes, I totally just made that up), then this news is going to excite you. You may want to sit down.

There are awesome apps out there that will make you feel like you’re in on one of the biggest nights in Hollywood. And the best part? They’re free.

Check it out:

Awards Hero: Oscars Edition is a free app (free, people!) for iPhone and iPad that displays nominees in each category and shows movie trailers. (And, if you’re like me and haven’t had a chance to see a movie in 27  years because of your kids, this comes in handy). It also allows you and your friends to vote on your  favorites via Facebook. (Which, in my opinion, might be one of the best parts!)

E! Live From the Red Carpet app covers all the fun questions and snarky commentary that you’ve come to love from that channel–who wore what, who is nominated for what, who won what and who came with whom. It’s great for all the red carpet award shows, including Sunday’s Oscars. Their app is free for Android, iPad and iPhone.

Oscars by ABC Digital is a free app for iPad and iPhone and brags that they have “more cameras than anywhere else following all the action on the Red Carpet” inside and outside of the theater. You can select “watch” and see the streaming video, or “direct” to select which camera you would like to see. There is also a “My Picks” game where you can predict who you think will win and share your predictions with friends.

Actors and Oscars Quiz is a free Adroid app where you can quiz yourself on the last 100 years of actor info. There are two modes for varying levels of play.

And, if you’re hosting your own Oscar night party, check out the Party Planning app–free for both Android devices and the Kindle Fire. It allows you to create checklists to organize your night on par with the best Oscar after-parties.
