A Rare Letter from the Prime Parents Club Editor (+Awesome Giveaways)

| April 6, 2012 | 2 Comments

Hey Everyone,

You usually hear from me as Jackie the writer and not Jackie the editor. However, April marks Prime Parents Club one year anniversary, so I Jackie and her daughter Ella, posing for a press picturedecided to write a little note  to let you know how much you all mean to me.

You see, it was just one short year ago in April 2011 when I created PrimeParentsClub.com. Six months prior to that, it had actually started as 40MomsClub.com–a site I started when I couldn’t find any support online for older moms. (I had my first biological child at age 39.) It only took a couple of months before I started hearing from the dads with emails and comments like, “What about us?” After giving it some thought and discussing it with some of the contributors, I decided to broaden our reach and create a site for parents (not just moms) ages 35 and up.

I chose this age range because I think parents 35 to 40+ years old are starting to deal with things that younger parents may not–career changes, elderly parents, health changes and some of us are even juggling toddlers (or grandkids!) and kids in college–all at the same time. All of this together creates unique stressors for us, the prime parents–how do we change careers and pay for our lives and kids’ college and take care of our parents and worry about our changing health and, and, and … well, you get the point. So I created a site to share information about those and other topics of interest, and a forum to personally share with each other.

Aside from boring you with a bunch of geeky tech statistics, it’s really hard to explain to you just how fast and big PrimeParentsClub.com has grown in this first year. Suffice it to say that it has exploded way beyond anything I ever anticipated. I truly believe there is one reason for this: our amazing contributing writers.

We have gathered a unique group of writers here with talents that far exceed many of the other sites out there (at least the parenting sites I’ve seen). These are amazing people, many with blogs and businesses themselves, who take the time to write for this site and support it in “behind the scenes” ways that you don’t even see. If you do nothing else with this letter, at least take the time to get to know a few (or all!) of our writers. Their information is easily accessible on our Contributors page and they deserve our support on their blogs and websites as many of them are trying to grow their businesses, too. It will mean a great deal to them if you like their personal Facebook pages and follow them on Twitter.

Lastly, to thank all of you for being there and to bribe entice you to continue forward with us, PrimeParentsClub.com has put together some really cool prize packs–totaling almost $700!–that won’t disappoint you. We’re giving away six prize packs and there are three different ways to win (so we cover everyone’s needs). There’s more information on that below.

Thank you, to everyone, for making this so much more than I had ever planned. I mean that from the bottom of my heart.

Stay tuned, we’re working on some really great things here. I hope you’ll stick around.

Jacqueline K. Wilson, Founder and Editor, PrimeParentsClub.com

As a Prime Parent, I really enjoy what your writers are sharing in their work on this site. Even if I am not experiencing the exact same thing that they are writing about, I do feel a connection with them as fellow “Prime Parents”. Keep up the good work and I am sure your site will continue to flourish!
