Hollywood Update, November 9

Here’s your weekly recap of the recent Hollywood happenings:

Hollywood Connections and Splits

Adrienne Maloof, from Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, and her ex-husband Paul Nassif are finally divorced. They reached a settlement and both sides are ready to put the whole messy ordeal behind them.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Victoria’s Secret model Erin Heatherton have gone their separate ways. Another Hollywood break-up blamed on busy schedules. I  hope that Leo isn’t heading down the George Clooney path of being the eternal bachelor.

Scarlett Johansson is rumored to be dating artist Domingo Zapata. I have been a fan of Ryan Reynolds for almost 15 years and a fan of Scarlett Johansson for around seven. I was thrilled when they got together and devastated when they broke up. I have a hard time accepting the post-divorce love choices either of them have made, and I secretly hold out hope that they will end up back together.

Week In Television

Project Runway All Stars took to the streets this week for a graffiti inspired challenge. In Project Runway season 8 I fell in love with Casanova, not because he was a great designer, but because he was such a fun and lovable person. This season he has stepped up his designs and I love him even more. He may not have made it to the top 3 this week, but I thought his dress was fantastic. The challenge was obviously perfectly made for Emilio and Anthony Ryan and they both turned out great looks. But what caught my eye on the runway was America’s Next Top Model season 12 alum Aminat. I don’t know how it took me so long to recognize her. She looked great on the runway, and seeing her stand next to Emilio, one of my favorite designers, I wanted to squeal like a teenager. Two reality TV favorites teaming up on one of the best reality TV competition shows? It doesn’t get much better than that!

This week marked the premier of the three-part documentary Nicki Minaj: My Truth. I was excited at the opportunity to see Nicki Minaj behind the scenes. In every guest appearance I’ve seen her do, I never felt like I saw a real person. She was always acting odd and using different accents. I really wanted a chance to see if she was a normal person under all of the crazy outfits, bright hair and weird behavior. Turns out she IS a normal person! She has a normal voice and worries about normal musician problems. I’ve always appreciated her music but never felt a connection with her because I felt like I was always looking at a caricature. But now that I’ve seen Nicki Minaj, the person, I feel like I can respect her as an artist even more. Episode one is constantly replaying on E! and episodes two and three will air the next two Sundays at 10:30 on E!.

Celebrity Tidbits & Ramblings

Sam Lutfi’s case against the parents of Britney Spears has been dismissed. The case was still in the middle of the trial when the judge ruled that Lutfi failed to prove he had any claims against the Spears family.

Chris Brown and Rihanna have released a teaser for their new song “Nobodies Business.” The song will be on her new album titled “Unapologetic.” This seems like a not so hidden message to the world.

What was the most surprising, interesting, shocking or even boring Hollywood tidbit for you this week?

Am I the only one on earth that doesn’t “get” Nicki Minaj? I feel like I’m being punk’d every time I see her on something. Maybe I’m just too old… SIGH. /jackie

She is really out there. That’s why I was excited to see what she was like the behind the scenes. Just like, I always thought she might be pretty if she wasn’t always making crazy faces. Turns out she is pretty. Same with talent. If you look past the craziness she is actually pretty talented. There was even a scene in the show where she sings with her back-up singers and it turns out she actually has a really great voice. Too bad you would never know that from her music that makes it to the radio.
