3 Ways to Lower Cholesterol Naturally

 

You’ve hit around the 40 mark and it seems like everything is going to hell, right? Things you never thought you would have to worry about are now issues–like cholesterol. However, you aren’t quite to the point of adding drugs into the mix to get your cholesterol down. So, what are some other ways you can lower your cholesterol starting today?

1. Go Green to Lower Cholesterol

Are you a big meat eater? We hate to tell you that those fat-based meats aren’t helping your cholesterol. Start adding in more vegetables into your diet (while reducing your meat intake) and it could significantly affect your cholesterol levels.

2. Let Go of Foods with Partially Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil to Lower Cholesterol

Start reading the labels on your packaged food and find words like “partially hydrogenated vegetable oil”–those are the pesky bad trans fats that you hear about all the time and they raise your cholesterol. You find this on those packaged food snacks you love so much (like, um, chips). Give those up for some yummy fruits and you won’t have to worry about those trans fats anyway.

3. Choose Cholesterol-Lowering Foods

Did you know that there are foods that can actually lower your cholesterol? (I know, right?)

Adding soy, almonds, walnuts, and foods rich in soluble fiber like old-fashioned oats, beans and barely all work to naturally lower your cholesterol. How cool is that?
