I am definitely not a morning person, and most mornings the thought of fixing breakfast for my kids is enough to make me want to hide under the covers. Everyone wants something different, and they want it RIGHT NOW! It’s especially rough in our house when we’re all trying to get ready and go somewhere at the same time; Sunday morning church prep is less than holy most of the time.
Wouldn’t it be great if you could wake up and have breakfast already done for you? And wouldn’t it be amazing if it were something the whole family loved? That’s exactly why I love this slow cooker apple cinnamon oatmeal recipe. Throw a few ingredients in the slow cooker, turn it on, and go to bed. You’ll wake the next morning to delicious apple cinnamon oatmeal, and your house will smell amazing. A surefire way to beat the morning grumps.
2 apples, sliced
¼ cup brown sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/8 tsp. salt
2 cups oatmeal
2 cups milk
2 cups water
Cover bottom of slow cooker with apple slices.
Add brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
Pour in oatmeal, milk, and water.
DO NOT STIR!
Cook on low setting for 8-9 hours. It is possible to burn this oatmeal (don’t ask me how I know), so I recommend turning the slow cooker on right before bed, and not sleeping in too late.
