I often work late, VERY late, like into the wee hours of the morning late. While I work, I often have the TV on in the background where I’m giving it about 10% of my attention while working. In case you aren’t aware, there are also interesting things on TV during those hours, including a slew of weird dating commercials.
Last night (this morning?), I was working when a catchy little ditty on a commercial caught my attention. I was looking at my computer, so I didn’t actually see the beginning of the commercial. Instead, it was the music that had me look up. It was so happy and catchy and upbeat.
And then I realized what it was about.
“I’m looking for someone other than my wife.”
I don’t know about you, but I just felt … dirty after seeing that. I’m annoyed by the happy, upbeat song that sucked me right into it. I’m annoyed by the good looking guys who seem way too happy to be looking for someone other than their wife. But, I’m especially annoyed that a network (I’m looking at you Spike TV) gave this commercial air play no matter what time of the day or night it was.
What are your thoughts?
